someguy.us is my personal blog. I’ve had it, in one form or another, since the mid-nineties, when a personal site felt like a small act of publishing rather than a marketing exercise. It still feels that way to me.
Most of what I put here is short: poems, small reflections, occasional notes from the corners of software I still like to tinker in. I’m working toward writing more here about scripture — not sermon transcripts, but the smaller studies that come out of preparing to preach: a passage that opened up, a word worth sitting with, a connection I hadn’t seen before.
No schedule, no promise of volume. If something you read here is useful to you, that’s a gift.

I preach on Sundays at the Edisto Island Church of Christ, where I get to spend real time in scripture with people I love. Some of what I find in that study ends up here — usually not the finished sermons, but the smaller things: a passage that opened up unexpectedly, a word I hadn't looked at closely before, a connection between two texts I hadn't seen.
The rest of my week I spend as a CPA, running Killen & Associates — the firm my father started decades ago. Before that I was a software developer and web designer, which explains why this site exists at all. I've been quietly building things on the web since the mid-nineties and never quite stopped.
